McDonalds burger price variations

My first assignment for the California Post came in September when I was asked to make photographs for a story on how McDonalds prices vary from one restaurant location to another. Apparently it’s easy to see the difference in the app, depending on which location you choose. Some items cost as much as a dollar more than those just a little ways down the road.

We went to three different locations around Fresno to illustrate that. The difficulty came right away when a manager came out to ask what I was doing and then told me I couldn’t do pictures on the property. So out to the sidewalk we went.

The reporter and myself then spent most of the lunchtime period trying to flag people down to get pictures and comments. Not easy. I was able to make a few pictures and even a video which is in the story link here: https://nypost.com/2026/09/30/business/mcdonalds-ai-menu-pricing-creates-big-cost-gaps-in-california/

From a freelance photography assignment I did for the California Post on the price discrepancy between different McDonald’s location in Fresno.
